The fun side of election day

Monday, January 31, 2011

I helped out at a few polling booths on federal election day last year and decided it would be fun to bring along some themed cupcakes!

The party colours are blue and white and I iced my local candidate's initials on top. I made a heap and put them in a cute basket decorated with blue ribbon and carried them around with me to the many venues I was visiting. They were a hit! Everyone loved them and a representative for one of the senators couldn't wait to tell everyone back at the office how the spirit in our area was so fantastic.

Such a fun idea!

The fun side of your little sister having friends stay

I LOVE baking...
My favourite things to make are cupcakes. I think I love the decorating just as much as the eating!
I don't always have an excuse to bake them though...which is why my little sister having a whole heap of friends staying is a perfect time to get mixing. :)

Yummy!

The fun side of horribly hot summers in Australia

So it's hot in Australia at the moment...
and when I say hot, I mean it got to 41c (106f).
Instead of staying in my oven of a house I decided it was the perfect weather for a pool day!
Only problem is I don't have a pool...so I decided to spend the weekend at my big sister's house.
We let my two nieces invite three friends over for a slumber party and what a fun weekend we had!

First we did manicures and pedicures, I was so excited to try out my new OPI Show it and Glow it nail polish.
Black was the colour of choice for some teeny tiny toes though!

After all five girls had beautiful nails we had pizza, spread out in the toy room and watched a movie until bed time.
At 9am we were ready to swim! We were in the pool for 8 hours, with only a half hour lunch break.

Pool day essentials:

Jelly! My favourite is the cold water rapid set Raspberry.

Coloured zinc sticks-so much fun painting them on every one's face! Especially good for kids as they think it's just like face paint.
Plenty of cold drinks.
Chocolate yogo-although technically for kids...SO good when it's hot.

Any type of melon.

A very fun day and a very fun side of living in Australia.
